I rented a small car - the listing said, "Toyota Yaris or Similar". When I showed up at the rental company, the customer service rep said that "I should Updgrade" based on the car they were going to give me. I said a Yaris or similar is fine, they said, no, we are giving you a smart car. Number 1, a smart car IS NOT similar to a Yaris, second, they would not budge on the smart car, third, it ended up costing triple to rent the next level up, and fourth, when I went to the lot, there was not a single smart car that I could see, but dozens of vehicles similar to a yaris. They then charged my card for the cost of the rental, $250 for who knows what, $500 deposit and another $250 for insurance which I had already purchased when I rented online. The first $250 is still showing as "pending" in my bank account, and it has been over a week since my trip ended. Do not rent from this company - the hidden fees make Spirit look like a bargain - and they obviously do not know categories of vehicles.

Orlando MCO location: I was recently ripped off by Advantage Rent Car, having booked it through Orbitz, I bought insurance through Orbitz. At rental, I refused all the options except the "tolls" option, and signed the electronic pad. WARNING: this little pad apparently lets them check the rest of the options box later. Make sure you get a paper copy of the contract, or just walk out without the car. Upon return, they gave me a contract showing I accepted road hazard and insurance, more than doubling my cost. And yes, I called the corporate office, they refused a refund, even telling me that they automatically add insurance to out of state people because they do not accept third party insurance like Orbitz or credit cards! This is obviously sanctioned by the corporate office, so I'd steer away from all the locations.

Got a rental for 3 days at 84 dollars. When I extended by 2 days the price was changed to 260 the reason given being July 4th holiday. When I checked online again the price was 18 dollars a day for the additional days. Feel cheated.

I have rented before from Advantage and found their rates to be priced a little cheaper than those other more popular rent a car companies. The rental car is always clean and I've never had a problem. The whole process at the counter never takes too long and their agents are fairly knowledgeable. Where ever I'm traveling I will try to look for Advantage first if they are available.

Overall the car was nice and pickup and drop off were smooth. But 2 weeks after they billed 90 dollars for tolls in Houston!! We didn't drive very far at all and I talked with my brother that I was visiting in Houston and he knew everywhere that we drove. He said at the very most we should have been charged 15 dollars for tolls. Additionally, I called to get the invoice for the charges and they said that they would email them to me...that was 3 days ago. Maybe Advantage is a good deal in non-toll parts of the country, but I would not recommend them anywhere tolls are present due to the way they price gouge.

First time using Advantage. Getting the vehicle was a joke but returning was a breeze. Be ready to say no, a lot. I had to deny the insurance (2x options) and car upgrade offers (for more $) so much I thought it was a practical joke. Honestly, I would have walked away if I hadn't already paid online as this took longer than anything and was unappreciated after a long flight. Probably 9x. Then after making it clear I just wanted the (smaller) car I reserved they went to get the keys and discovered it was unavailable. Cue staff to try to sell me upgrades all over again after putting me in a minivan. Complete waste of time when I reserved everything online ahead of time. Vehicle was nice but a maintenance warning went off within 150 miles. Turning the vehicle in was quick and I can't say enough about the return staff, who increased the rating from one star. Can't say I'd use them again though.

The delay to perform the care was very great, I waited more than two hours standing in a queue to be attended to after having made a trip of more than 20 hours. Meanwhile the customers of other car rental companies next door were being served quickly.
At the time of booking I had chosen the option of delivery in another location, however I was only warned that I could not deliver on this site at the time of removing the car.

I'm used to working with enterprise and other car rental companies because of how much I travel. This was my first time with advantage, and it was a great experience. No drama, no hassle, and simple. The only thing I didn't like was having to inspect for dents and scratches myself and then turn in the paper before I leave, but it only added a few minutes to the process. I wasn't in a hurry so it didn't matter.
