When I was stressing after another company lost my reservation I was fortunate enough to get a lady named Sandra from Avis in GREENVILLE on the line. She told me that due to the extreme business on the holiday week she couldn’t find me a car- forget it - but call her 8 am the next day and she would work furiously to find me one. At 9am I heard from saying “it’s not the compact you wanted but it’s good on gas and ready to roll”. That kind of service is very rare and very appreciated.

I rented a car from here the first of December then I extended twice. When I turned the car in they said I owed $1400.00then the man said $1800.00 the card declined that amount I had to verify if I approved this charge I did not reply right away to the bank and then the next day they ran my card again this time for$2200.00. DON'T RENT FROM THIS PLACE. I'm trying to get my monet back but this should have never happened. If I could have gave 0 stars I would have. Go to Enterprise. They are cheaper and there cars are a lot nicer.

Everything was fine until we tried to return the car. My wife refilled before returning, but they still wanted to charge for the tank not being full. Is she supposed to push the car back after refilling? You're now losing future local business over $1 worth of gas. Great management decision.

I returned my vehicle and was overcharged by $2100 because they recorded the mileage incorrectly. It took almost 2 weeks for the money to be refunded to my account.

Avis is my "go to" place for car rentals and has been for years.

This location definitely stands out among other locations I have visited.
They always have my reservation ready and I have been happy with every vehicle I have rented at this location. I even get vehicle upgrades on occasion which is always a nice surprise.

The customer service is always great. Even when the employees are handling multiple customers and they are very busy, they never get flustered and I never feel rushed. They take the time to make sure the vehicle is good to go and that I am good with my rental.

I have also been there when an employee was handling a customer that who was "not happy" for whatever reason. The employee handled the situation with patience and was obviously doing everything she could to make the customer happy.

Bottom line:
Great location to rent a vehicle.

I picked up a Chrystler 300 from here and kept it for over a week. The check-in process, the quality of vehicle, the renting, and extending for a couple of days, everything was very smooth. When I returned the car, I filled gas and the gas nozzle clicked shut (I filled gas from a Walmart near Furman University, which is 12.9 miles from the place I returned the car) however for some reason unknown to me when I returned the car and the car cooled down the fuel guage read a little below Full (picture attached, note that the guage was still above 'F' mark). The person who was processing my return threatened to charge me $30-40 if I do not fill up again. I was very upset, not only because I was already late for my appointment, but I was made to hit the road again to fill gas where there are no gas stations close by, (the closest QT takes 10 minutes to drive if signals comply). Surely enough, as soon as I started driving, the fuel gauge went all the way up and started reading full - even before I filled gas. I showed them the phenomena and now they let me go. By this time, my Lyft driver had already left, so I had to wait again for another Lyft.

What thoroughly disappointed me about the return process is that :

(i) When I told them that I filled gas full, they did not believe me. They kept on insisting that I didn't. They asked me where I filled gas and I said it was within last 40 miles (actually it was only 12.9 miles - it just seemed too long as I was driving slowly through the city).

(ii) It is PREPOSTEROUS to charge $10 / ga. for refilling gas - this is what annoyed me most, as it is clearly taking advantage of customers! If the number was $4-5 / ga (2 times price, which is what we expect generally), I would have just asked them to do it.

(iii) They don't have after-hour drop off, which caused me to take leave during a work-day to return the car. However, this is a complaint that I have for several AVIS facilities, not just this one. I hope they change.

The entire episode left a bitter aftertaste. I was thinking of giving them 5 stars before I returned the car, but now I am only leaving 3 stars.

Awesome experience! Rented a car within 1 hour of needing it. Upgraded because their selection wasn’t great at the end of the night. The woman helping me was very kind and they were patient even though they were closing. Will keep using!
