Budget Car and Truck Rental - Provo, Utah

This experience with budget was very short and bitter. We arrived to provo airport after a day of flight delays. Our reservation for a car rental was made in advance, and after attempting to call and inform them of the flight delay due to an aircraft maintenance issue, the automated system advised if your flight has been delayed, the budget team is aware. We arrived at the airport at 10:40 PM and rushed off of the plane to get to budget before they closed at 11 PM, according to their website and information on Google. All of the car reservation desks were closed and no one would answer any phone calls from budget. This inconsideration on behalf of budget left my family of four stranded at the airport in the middle of the night. Budget, it’s 2025. Do better.

Had a little trouble at the desk when system didn’t recognize card used (via Apple Pay). Staffer was VERY patient and honored the reservation. Car was conveniently located, clean and in very good condition. Would rent again.

This company is a total scam. We rented a car and when we arrived no one was at the counter for check in. After about 40 min someone finally showed up. The car we received was dirty and had a lot of scratches on it. I brought this to the clerk’s attention but they didn’t offer a different car or seem to care. We documented all issues and left. Upon returning I received a receipt for the correct change and a zero balance. About 8 hours later I received an updated receipt with an additional $450 charge for smoking in vehicle. We absolutely did not smoke in the vehicle. I called to get the charge resolved and was told it smelled like smoke so there is nothing they can do. I have filed a dispute with my cc company and will never rent from budget again.

Expect your estimated charge, when you initially made the reservation, to increase once you show at the counter. Only time it’s ever happened is at this location. And, you’ll be unable to call Budget customer service because this location is run by “An Independent Budget System Licensee.” Budget’s customer service will transfer you another support line where, after 20 minutes, no one answered.

When we dropped off the car, we gave the keys to one of their employees in the lot. He walked up to us after we parked. Then, two days later after being home, they called us trying to claim we put a chip in the windshield. We didn’t nor did the employee that took our keys make note of it that day.

This place is out to scam you. Avoid at all cost.

Horrible!!! Do not rent from budget. Waited half hour to even talk to employee about rental. Car was disgusting inside and out. Decided instead of waiting longer to just keep it. Returned it on time and got charged the regular amount with a paid in full on email. Next day received another email saying it smelled like smoke. Absolutely did not smoke in the vehicle. They said after speaking to two managers they didn’t care and wouldn’t do anything about it. $450.00 extra charge. We contacted the credit card company for false charges. Never will I rent from budget.

The hassle I have had to deal with through this company is absolutely unacceptable. I got a one-way rental from Denver to Provo due to my flight being cancelled. Upon returning the vehicle to Provo, I used the drop box to return my keys. How convenient and easy, I thought. WRONG! My contract was not properly closed out and the car I used was re-rented (which according to the staff at this location, should not have happened.) The vehicle was then delivered in Mesa, AZ and it was there that my contract was closed. I had to provide proof that I delivered the vehicle to the Provo location because they did not have proof that I delivered it. So I sent all that information in to customer service, where they were able to figure out what went wrong. This morning I was charged $1151.40 for the vehicle because it was “extended” to Mesa, AZ. The staff at this location were zero help in this situation, and it was their error that caused this massive charge. After speaking with customer service multiple times over 3 days, my money will be refunded. But the hassle and time I have spent dealing with this matter is beyond unacceptable, this should have never happened in the first place. Get yourselves together and have better communication.

These scammers! Do not rent from them. If you do, document and video record everything, including the condition of the car, the starting mileage, starting gas, etc.
They were horrible to deal with in the first place, they gave us a car that wasn’t washed and had less than a half a tank of gas. As such, we were told we can return it with any amount of gas and they will not charge us. We returned it with over a half a tank of gas and they tried to charge us for gas and vehicle body damage, which we didn’t do anything to damage the vehicle whatsoever. Best of luck if you decide to use them anyway.

I got a new car and the staff was very helpful. They provided drop off instructions and went over everything I was signing. I would 100% rent from them again. Not sure why they have so many poor reviews.
